GOLD International Development

Education. Health. Food security. And more.

GOLD International Development, a nonprofit corporation chartered in Washington state, was created to partner with institutions in Africa to create a network of research collaborations and scholarly and student exchanges designed to help communities build resilience to both short-term and persistent adverse events. To understand and address global challenges, we focus on capacities for adaptive transformation. We are building collaborations across relevant areas of the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and policy domains in 3 interrelated strands of activity: education, health, and food security.

GOLD ID Projects

We have built robust collaborations involving Washington State University and institutions in Nigeria, Burundi, and Ghana to help communities build resilience to both short-term and persistent adverse events. Our resilience lens for understanding and addressing global challenges focuses on capacities for adaptive transformation rather than deficits. We are building collaborations across educational, health, and food security domains concentrated on helping Africa’s youthful and growing population be an asset to Africa’s aspirations.
